Sep 4, 2016- Dr Govinda KC, an orthopaedic surgeon at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, has warned of staging another hunger strike if the government does not honour the agreements signed with him in the past through Parliament within a month.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Solidarity for Dr KC Alliance in Pokhara on Saturday, KC said he has demanded reforms in the country’s medical education sector.
“I had called off my fast after an agreement with the government,” recalled KC, saying that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had also assured of addressing his demands.
“I want equitable distribution of medical schools [across the country] and quality health services for all,” he said. Dr KC had ended his eighth hunger strike after the KP Sharma Oli-led government committed to addressing his concerns.
