Abu Dhabi: UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum attended the final handicapping and medical examination of the horses taking part in the World Endurance Championship 2016, to be held today in Samorin in Slovakia.
A record 136 riders from 46 nations, including the UAE, will compete in the 160-kilometer endurance race.
At the Samorin Equestrian Centre, Shaikh Mohammed also met with Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of Bahrain's Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Chief of the Bahraini Olympic Committee, and Abdul Raziq Abdul Qadir Al Shahwarzi, Commander of the Omani Royal Cavalry, along with other heads of the delegations attending the championship.
Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, who won the individual gold at the previous championship in Normandy, France, will lead the UAE team of five riders. Other members include Shaikh Rashid bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum, Shaikh Hamad bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum, Saif Ahmed Al Mazrouei and Abdullah Ghanim Al-Marri.
