Initiative to help tackle Oman’s business challenges

Muscat: Economic Evenings initiative, organised by the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development (Ithraa), will be launched on September 19. The programme, comprising four panel discussions, will aim at finding solutions to the challenges in Oman’s business environment.

The event will be held under the theme ‘Promising economic sectors in Oman’. The first discussion under the theme ‘Enhancing local tourism’ will explore opportunities for the development of tourism sector in the Sultanates as a targeted sector. Tourism has more prominent position than industry, retail, financial service and communication sectors.

The second panel discussion under the theme ‘Made in Oman’ will cover the industry sector in the Sultanate. More than 610,000 Omanis work in the sector, which export the Omani products to about 140 countries.

The third panel discussion, under the theme ‘Logistic services in cities’ covers the development of logistic services, which is an important requirement for the growth of the national economy, especially logistic sector as an important communication link between suppliers and customers.

The fourth panel discussion on ‘Recycling economy’ will highlight changes in the sector. It will also touch on management of wastes through reuse, recycling and other environment friendly methods besides exploring possible opportunities in the sector.

These economic evenings are supported by BP-Oman and organised, in cooperation with BankMuscat, Al Wesal FM, Merge FM, ‘Times of Oman’ and ‘Al Roya’ newspapers.
