NFL Player Takes A Knee During National Anthem, Instantly Regrets It When This Happens
In the past month, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been dominating headlines with his refusal to stand for the national anthem.
When confronted about his actions, Kaepernick asserted that he could not, “stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”
After the controversial stunt, many other NFL players followed suit by sitting or kneeling during the national anthem to show solidarity with Black Lives Matter. One of the players to join Kaepernick was Brandon Marshall of the Denver Broncos, who took a knee during the national anthem at his team’s season-opening game last Thursday.
Not surprisingly, this move quickly came back to bite Marshall. His sponsors decided to drop him for his actions. The first to make the move was Air Academy Federal Credit Union. They were quickly followed by CenturyLink.
Thinks got worse when a fan showed up to the Broncos’ practice field and set an orange t-shirt with Marshall’s name on it on fire.
“It’s an evil world,” Marshall later commented. “It’s a hateful world. I’m not here to spread hate. I’m not here to respond to the hate. I’m here to spread love and positivity.”
What do you think of Marshall’s actions?
