The two-day EDM fest begins at the Gokarna Forest Resort today
Sep 23, 2016- One of world’s biggest musical festivals—Sunburn—is set to kick off today in the Capital. The two-day EDM fiesta will take place at the Gokarna Forest Resort in the Capital and will feature a host of acts that are set to submerge attendees with ambient and electronic music.
Electronica, an umbrella term used to refer a host of music genres such as techno, triphop and downtempo, carved an inroad into the mainstream music scene from the late 20th century. In line with the genre’s growing popularity through the break of the 21st century, the first Sunburn Music Fest-currently, the biggest music festival in Asia and one of 10 biggest fests in the world—was introduced in Goa, India, in 2007.
This year’s edition, Sunburn Reload, is the second time that the fest is being organised in Nepal.The event will feature, along with some of the hottest EDM artists of South Asia, a state-of-the-art technical setup, and will be accompanied by spectacular visuals-with the use of laser graphics and special effects.
The first iteration, held in
March 2015, had a six-hour format and was held at Club 25. This year’s edition will see popular names such as the duo Marnik, (S)haan and Candice Redding, along with a
host of local acts.
Even manager Ritesh Marwadi shares his excitement about the forthcoming event, “Last year, we hosted Nepal’s first Sunburn festival, but it was more a closed-party. This year, we will be hosting open-air festival at the Gokarna Forest Resort and hope to make the festival a roaring success. Spread over two days, this year we will be holding a 10-hour format festival with some of the biggest names in South Asian electronic dance music scene.”
He also mentioned that the organisers are with high hopes as they aim to provide the younf EDm enthusiasts with a wholesome electronic/dance experience.
The fest will commence,
beginning at 3pm, on Friday. Along with performances, the event will also see various food and bar stalls and VIP and VVIP stages.
The tickets have been priced at Rs 1,500 for a single-day entry and Rs 2,500 for a two-day pass. The two-day pass also includes a free shuttle to and from the venue.
