Golden Sprint meet: Sunar, Karki complete double
Sep 23, 2016- Yam Sajan Sunar and Dil Maya Karki clinched double titles in the fourth Golden Sprint Meet at the Dashrath Stadium track on Thursday.
Sunar won the men’s 100m and 200m titles, while Nepal APF Club athlete Karki clinched the women’s 200m and 400 championship. Sunar claimed both the titles with relative ease, winning the 100m in 10.5 seconds far ahead of Siddhant Bohara (10.9) and Ashish Khatri (11.1). He timed 21.6 seconds to win the 200m race. Nil Pratap Mahato (22.3) of Bara and Khatri (23.1) of Lalitpur completed the podium places.
Karki clinched the 200m race in 26.3 seconds ahead of teammates Saraswoti Chaudhary (27.5) and Bhagirathi Chaudhari (27.9). She won the 400m title in 60.0 seconds. Her APF teammate Bhagirathi (63.5) finished in second followed by Sangeeta Vhaursia (65.5) of India.
Saraswoti Chaudhary won the women’s 100m race in 12.7 sec. Pramila Tharu (13.3) of Bardia ended up in second and Bhavisha Kothari (13.6) of India in third. Som Bahadur Kumal (48.2sec) of Tribhuvan Army Club edged Ashish Chaudhari (48.4sec) of APF Club to win the men’s 400m title. Nir Pratap Mahato of APF finished third with the timings of 49.2 seconds.
Jibaraj Shahi bagged the men’s 110m hurdles title with the timings of 17.5. Satta Bahadur Budha of APF was a distant second in 19.6sec followed by his teammate Narayana Mahato (21.1sec) in third.
Bhavisha Kothari of India clinched the women’s 100m hurdles in 16.6 seconds. Sabitra Chaudhary (17.2sec) of APF finished in second and Pramila Tharu (19.1) of Bardia in third.
