Muscat: A significant 244 per cent increase in the sale of regular (90) petrol in July was recorded in Oman with sales surging to 3.144 million barrels. However, Super (95) petrol sales logged a decline of 21 per cent during the month to 10.362 million barrels.
Oil refineries increased production of regular fuel by the end of July by 178 per cent to record 3.925 million barrels. The production of super petrol declined by 22 per cent to 10.338 million barrels, according to latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The production of gas (diesel) settled at 12.444 million barrels and its sales declined by 8 per cent to 10.254 million barrels.
The production of jet fuel fell by 1 per cent to 2.861 million barrels, but its sales increased by 17 per cent to 2.56 million barrels. Its exports increased by 4 per cent to 647,000 barrels.
As for petrochemicals, the production of petrol grew by 63 per cent to 127,000 metric tonnes and its exports increased by 54 per cent to 128,000 MT. The production of paraxylene increased by 50 per cent to 390,000 metric tonnes. Its exports increased by 37 per cent to 391,000 metric tonnes.
On the contrary, the production of polypropylene declined by 44 per cent to 59,000 metric tonnes and its sales declined by 67 per cent to 4,000 metric tonnes. Its exports also decreased by 58 per cent to 37,000 metric tonne
