After Major General Harold Greene, a high-ranking commander, was murdered during an insider attack at the beginning of this year, President Obama decided to go golfing instead of paying the man the honor he so deserved at his funeral. Greene was the highest ranking officer to be killed in a combat zone since the Vietnam War.
According to recent reports, a quarter of the Afghan security forces are Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters that have infiltrated the army. This is the same army that the United States has been arming and training.
Amid this, and several other scandals, and as or borders remain upon to attacks from the South—there are still a few brief, shining moments that we can be proud of.
Such is the case in this video, of a US soldier in Afghanistan doing his own rendition of the National Anthem as the flag was raised. Apparently, the performance took place during the Muslim call to prayer.
